Privacy
Last updated 5 November 2026. Covers the Relay website and the Relay iPhone app.
What Relay stores
Your account email and profile (name, username, city, the sizes and brands you tell us about). The items you add to your closet: photos, descriptions, prices, purchase details you enter or import from a receipt. Offers, saves, follows and requests to buy between you and other Relay users. Reports you file and people you block. Product analytics about how you use Relay. On iPhone, a push notification token for each device you sign in on, if you turn notifications on.
Photos and location
The iPhone app only sees the photos you pick or take. Before upload, photos are resized and re-encoded, which removes their location and other camera data. When you save listing photos to an album to post them on another marketplace, Relay only adds to your photo library; it never reads the rest of it.
Identifying items with AI
Relay can fill in brand, size, colour and condition from your photos, write a description from the details you confirm, and read purchases from receipts you paste. To do that it sends those photos, details or receipts to Anthropic, which provides the AI model. Anthropic doesn't use them to train its models. On iPhone, Relay asks before the first time and you can turn this off any time in Profile, Privacy and safety; without it, you enter the details yourself.
Connected marketplaces
When you connect an eBay or Depop account, Relay stores the access tokens that marketplace issues so it can create, update and end your listings and detect sales on your behalf. Tokens are stored server-side, never shown in the browser or the app, and deleted when you disconnect the account. If you close a connected marketplace account, that marketplace tells Relay and we delete what we hold for it. For marketplaces you post to yourself, Relay only stores the listing link you give it.
Who else sees your data
Relay runs on Supabase (database, authentication and photo storage) and Vercel (hosting). Push notifications are delivered through Expo and Apple. Photos you ask Relay to identify go to Anthropic as described above. Listings you publish are sent to the marketplaces you choose. Other Relay users see your public profile and your listings, never your email or what you paid. Relay does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.
Safety
You can report a listing or a person and block anyone. Blocking hides their listings and activity from you, stops them making offers, requesting to buy or following you, and closes anything pending between you. The Relay team reviews every report and removes listings and accounts that break the rules.
Deleting your data
Disconnect a marketplace from Profile, Marketplace accounts to remove its tokens immediately. To delete your Relay account and everything in it, open Profile, Delete account in the iPhone app. Relay first ends the listings it published for you on eBay and Depop, then deletes your closet, listings, photos, offers, saves, follows and connections. Listings you posted yourself on other marketplaces stay up until you remove them there. You can also email hello@relaycloset.com from the address you signed up with.
